Skiing in Gastein - an experience for the big and small

Whether you are on skis or snowboard, beginner or pro, the skiing area of Gastein has a lot to offer:

If there something to brood about in Gastein, then it is the question, to which ski area do I head to today! As there are four in the number in the Gastein valley! On over more than 200 km pistes, that takes you as high as 2700 m, beginners and pros, skiers, boarders and carvers are all in their element. The reason - the different difficulties of the ski pistes: 60 km easy, 117 km moderate and 24 km of difficult family runs, carving routes, powder snow- and mogul’s runs that want to be conquered. Look forward to perfectly cultivated and varied ski runs in Gastein!

Choose between the ski swing connections Stubnerkogel-Angertal-Schlossalm and Dorfgastein Großarl that has a permanent racing run, the world championship run Graukogel with its long and difficult runs and the high alpine Sportgastein. The ideal altitude and extensive snow cannons guarantee for snow from the end of November till the end of April. Skiing in Gastein is utter enjoyment!

A short presentation of the ski areas in the Gastein valley

Schlossalm - Angertal - Stubnerkogel (860 - 2.300 m above sea level)

The largest connected skiing area. Runs with more than 1,000 m difference in altitude promise varied piste pleasure - perfectly connected with modern lifts and cable cars. Ideal for pleasure skiers. For beginners we recommend the Judaulift in the ski centre Angertal. Especially popular: die Hohe Scharte Nord (Run H 1 on the piste plan - 8 km long and 1,440 m difference in altitude-one of the longest runs in the eastern Alps.

Skiing centre Angertal

Sportgastein (1.590 - 2.650 m above sea level)

Is the highest located skiing area. Sportgastein is the place where the athletes are at home. A skiers dream come true, as soon as the snow conditions allow for one to leave the normal piste carpet - therefore for powder and all the more for firn. A special tip: Ski run 1 + 2: varied conditions as far as the eyes can see. After 1000 m, powder and mogul runs- you return to base- a dream come true. Please note the warning boards and barriers!

Graukogel (1.079 - 2.007 m above sea level)

The Graukogel is a real challenge with its long, difficult runs for good skiers. Large parts of the runs lie in a forest, especially protected from the wind, and allows even with bad visibility for good orientation. The only disadvantage: No direct lift connection to the other skiing areas.

Dorfgastein - Großarltal (850 - 2.003 m above sea level)

The very first ski swing in the Gastein valley has a variety of family friendly offers with varied runs from beginners to the more experienced, the highest comfort with the most modern cable cars- and lift facilities and a unique, especially cosy skiing lodge atmosphere. You arrive with the summit lift – Fulseck, to the highest point of the skiing swing Dorfgastein – Großarltal. From here, you have the most spectacular panoramic views of the Großglockner reaching all the way to the Dachstein mtns. Well-prepared runs invite you to adventurous skiing and snowboard pleasure.
